NASK has been awarded a Crystal Antenna in the category ‘Internet’ at the Great Gala Award Ceremony, held in Warsaw during the 11th Telecommunication and Media World Symposium. The Crystal Award was made for 20 years of developing the Internet in Poland. In 1991, NASK connected Poland to the world network. It is the research institute that has always tried to set a trend of the Polish Internet development.
In 2010, experts from CERT Polska team received over 12 million automated submissions concerning the Polish networks. The Zeus trojan, Stuxnet worm or attacks on the Voice-over-IP services were the most important threats that Internet users faced last year. CERT Polska, operating in the framework of NASK, presents the detailed analysis of these incidents in its annual report.
tu-tam.pl is the name of the domain number 2 million entered, on the night of January 4, 2011, in the national Internet domain register maintained by NASK. The number of .pl domain names has increased twofold over the past two years. Twenty years after its connection to the Internet, Poland ranks fifth in terms of the number of domains registered in Europe.
The statistical data presented in the NASK Report on .pl domain name registrations in Q3 this year may be summed up with a single statement: it was a period of sustained, stable growth.
