A team of IT engineers from NASK developed a system for automatic management of TLD database called „e-IANA”, using in the management process of top level domains, such as: .org, .gov, or .pl.
IANA (Internet Assigned Number Authority) is a department operating within ICANN responsible for TLD management and general supervision over the operation of DNS mechanism worldwide.
The system developed by NASK after numerous tests and ICANN acceptance cam be the basic tool for IANA and cooperating entities that manage the TLDs Registries. It can be used for entering and updating technical and administrative contacts, change of primary and secondary server names, modifying WHOIS server addresses and the modification of numerous other data significant from the viewpoint of efficient operation of global DNS system.
CENTR (Council of European National TLD Registries) - an European organization that associates national TLD registers informs that the system prepared by NASK already operates. In a letter to CENTR members the chairman of this organization, Mr.Paul M. Kane has pointed out the professional approach of NASK design team towards the requirements stated in the specification of this project and fast execution of the entire task. The project executed by NASK is also described in an announcement from CENTR meeting in Moscow (September 29-30 this year) available at: http://www.centr.org/docs/2005/09/centr-ga27-communique.html.
The e-IANA system prepared by NASK assumes the use of safe authorization mechanisms based on pu7blic and private keys. Currently „e-IANA’ supports such mechanisms as DSA, ElGamal, IDEA, TripleDES, MD5 and SHA-1. The „e-IANA” system itself was developed according to ISO 12207 and RUP. The system can be tested at http://testbed.wwTLD.org. |
