A freshly published NASK report devoted to the situation on the domain market in Q1'2010 begins with information about a decreasing distance between Poland and Italy when it comes to competing for the fourth place in the ranking of EU countries with the highest number of registered domain names.
The report reads: "Total number of 1,751,401 names in .PL domain, hosted by the end of the first quarter of 2010, means a significant reduction in distance between .PL and .IT. Before, the gap was 9.8% and now it's only 6.9%. Continuation of this trend lets us assume that the Polish domain names market will surpass the Italian market, and thus Poland may become the fourth biggest country in the European Union regarding the number of registered domain names."

Also, the report shows that so far Q1'2010 has been the best period in the history of .PL domain names registration. During the first three months of this year all indices related to the number of domains and related services have risen. During the first quarter the number of names in the .PL domain increased by 121,472, which means an increase of 18.78% in relation to the fourth quarter of 2009. March was the month of the biggest growth.
Excellent results are mainly the result of activity of NASK's Partners. In March, their number was 125 and - taking under consideration a significant interest in the partner programme among companies operating on the broadly viewed electronic trade market - we can anticipate new partnership agreements in the coming months. Partners control almost 98% of .PL domain names. Home.pl and NetArt companies remain unquestionable leaders considering both domain maintenance and registration of new domains.
Through Partners one can take advantage of many services offered, among others, the DNT (Domain Name Tasting) service, which provides an opportunity to test a domain name for fourteen days. The first three months of 2010 brought a significant increase in the number of tested domains. 27,547 new agreements were concluded - 6,404 more than during the previous quarter.
