SECURE 2015 conference – cybercops vs. cybercriminals
The possibility of taking control over our house by cybercriminals, identification of spies and assassins with metadata whether current level of cybercrime in Poland – these are just some of topics presented during the SECURE 2015 conference dedicated to telecommunications security that ended on the 15th October. Among the speakers at this year’s edition, there were, inter alia: the representatives of the European Network and Information Security Agency (ENISA), the United States  Department of Homeland Security, leading anti-virus company such as F-Secure, ESET and Kaspersky, famous Shadowserver group, as well as the members of “Dragon Sector” – Polish team that won the international competition in the field of IT security last year. The conference is organized by NASK research institute and CERT Polska, operating in the framework of NASK.
.PL domain registry held the eleventh position in the world
According to the NASK’s report on the .pl domain name market for the fourth quarter of 2014, we registered most willingly in the .pl domain (70% of names, active in DNS), followed by the functional domains, for example (22%). What is important, the renewal rate at the end of 2014 has attained the highest level since the second part of the 2009. The .pl domain registry held, in the last quarter of 2014, the eleventh position among the biggest national registries in the world in terms of the number of active names, beating among others the Canadian and American registries.
Poland has just celebrated Safer Internet Day
On February 10th, Safer Internet Day was celebrated in several dozen countries all over the world. This year’s theme of the day was “Let’s create a better Internet together” and it drew attention to the role of each internet user in building safe and friendly Internet. In Poland, the organizer of Safer Internet Day is the Polish Safer Internet Centre, composed of FDN (Nobody’s Children Foundation) and NASK (Research and Academic Computer Network). The main partner of the event was the Orange Foundation. Microsoft and Facebook were also among the partners.
